2013 Los Angeles Homeless Count
Join Emanuel Pleitez, candidate running for mayor, and his team for the 2013 Los Angeles Homeless Count. This great effort is put on by the Los Angeles Homeless Service Authority, United Way of Greater Los Angeles, Kaiser Permanente, Cal State LA, Santa Monica College, Volunteers of America Greater LA, and additional community partners.
Emanuel and his campaign joined this effort because we believe in the impact of cooperation and working together to generate solutions. Poverty hurts all of Los Angeles and it's something we should all care about.
On any given night, over 51,000 individuals experience homelessness, and every year we spend $875 million in public resources to manage homelessness, not solve it. Research shows that thoughtful reallocation of existing resources can drastically reduce homelessness. Targeting the highest service users and emphasizing a housing first approach can help us maximize resources and create a system equipped for ending homelessness in Los Angeles County.
